I started reading this book that my aunt gave me for my birthday. Her brother-in-law wrote it, I believe.
It's a high-fantasy novel about a young prince that posseses a strong, uncontrolled elemental power of ice, whose kingdom is currently at war against dragons and goblins. I haven't gotten too far into yet so I'm probably describing it very badly, so heres a list of random shit about it.
- Cool yet somehwhat underdeveloped polyamorous relationship between main character and his two "girlfriends".
- The classic "I'm a monster and I am scared of myself" trope that I absolutely adore.
- Sort of sadistic grandpa
- Simple yet interesting worldbuilding
- Heehee elements
I already want to make fanart of the MC, perhaps this will be my most obscure fandom to date.

Ok so this book is already starting to piss me off.
Literally the pacing is so breakneck fast that I can barely understand anything. Heres an instance:
-MCs mother almost dies, is given no time to have any thought more than "oh my mom almost died thats not good." before jumping into a rushed and boring sex scene between MC and his two girlfriends.
Literaly so many of this books issues would be solved if the pacing just slowed down for TWO FUCKING SECONDS

I ended up abandoning this book entirely. It was so tedious that I kept wanting to fall asleep while reading it. I feel bad because this is a family members book and it is his debut, and writing is really hard (I know from experience), but good Lord this was a nightmare. Sorry not sorry, DNF at like 10%
