Now that alot of people have been abandoning Netflix for other streaming services, I'm also seeing many people complain of the over-saturation of streaming services now. Something that was meant to be convineient has now become a headache for many.
Now that people are also becoming more vocal about the controversies of streaming companies, I think that many people may return to torrenting.
Also I think visual media borrowing from libraries may see a resurgence as well.
What do you think?

I do feel like torrenting is gonna have some sort of uprise. Probably not one noticeable enough to the mainstream, but definitely a spike up. I also feel like the recent spike in interest for things like lost media/media archival might play into more people getting into torrenting, in a way.
Also, about streaming companies (not downplaying any controversies at all, I just feel the need to bring this up too). I feel like people that aren't already interested in torrenting, or don't care about the controversies with certain services for whatever reason, could fall into it, because not all streaming services have older or more obscure media. There have been plenty of times I've had to check archive.org or some pirating site for some obscure/forgotten show I've heard about, and want to see that isn't streamable anywhere because "who would want to see that?" Not to mention streaming services with "exclusive" shows/specials, like what happened with the south park special on paramount+. Unless you already had the streaming service, there's no reason to get it if you just want to watch 1 show/special, so turning to pirating is the best option.

When the last few episodes of The Owl House first aired on cable I couldn't watch them cause I don't have cable, and Disney + didn't start hosting the episodes until a whole month afterwords. So I torrented them and voila, I didn't need to wait another fucking month just to see two episodes.
Also I torrent alot of films that are well known but only available on specific platforms like you said. My watching of Thirteen and American Psycho were both thanks to Frostwire lmao.

I don't really torrent actively, mainly because There Is So Much Media, All The Time Now, I can barely keep up with what I legally own. But I definitely think streaming service bloat has sorta burned a lot of people, and it's just... Easier to know "What I want to watch," and "Here's the easiest way to access it without having to deal with how finicky checking licensing is." I personally can't be bothered. So any streaming/Subscription service I have is from free trials, or because I'm bumming off of someone else. Just so much. Really helps me practice avoiding FOMO.
That said, I do somewhat worry about the newer generation's ability to like... Just pirate. There was a weird meme on social media back when of like... QR codes? leading to download links. And a bunch of people treating that as genuinely helpful. And not like, scary, given you can't actually check a QR code before you access it. Just visit a piracy site with basic internet security. Ublock and noscript block like... 99% of it.
And there's that recent stuff with HBO Max, and how the streaming wars are killing a lot of things people are genuinely excited for, now. Netflix axing popular shows out of nowhere. It's gonna fall apart, eventually.

Side Note, but Archive.org truly has been a boon for my random deep dives. Incredibly easy to find a fascinating read of many subcultures, subjects, etc. that I wouldn't find anywhere else online. Wonderful site.

Oh, Archive.org!! So glad you mentioned that, alot of the music that I've torrented was sourced from there. Also it's serviced me on my 2am deepdives for Chuck E Cheese employee manuals (I've never worked there and don't plan on ever doing so).
Also the QR code trend annoyed the hell out of me from people being stupid. I had heard instances of it actually working, I think someone posted the entirety of Avengers Endgame on one. I think alot of my fellow teens kind of assume that modern tech will automatically protect them from viruses.
